On Aug. 13, hundreds of classic car enthusiasts descended on the Schaumburg Park District’s Olympic Park for the first ever Classic Car Show and Free Movie in the Park.
On display were a variety of automobiles including Chevrolets, a Volkswagen and a Studebaker. At dusk, the movie Cars was showed on two screens.
The Best of Show award went to Ray Dylla for his 1960 Studebaker. First place in the People’s Choice category went to Jerry Castle who showcased his 1956 Volkswagen Dune Buggy.
“Classic Car shows evoke a bit of nostalgia and lots of memories from their owners and spectators, said Beth Waller, cultural arts supervisor at the District. “People gathered around the cars and start telling stories of their first car or sharing stories about the ones in front of them.”
