Get dancing in December at Schaumburg Park District

Dec 11, 2017

Schaumburg Park District is inviting youngsters to move and groove their way into the holiday spirit with new dance workshops.

The District is adding December dance classes with convenient daytime hours for students on winter break, preschoolers and homeschoolers. Featured in the lineup is a Broadway dance workshop celebrating the recent popularity of musicals such as “Hamilton” and “Aladdin.” This workshop is ideal for dancers wanting to perform in musical theater or compete in dance competitions.

“We picked five different Broadway genres we’re going to learn,” said Beth Waller, cultural arts supervisor. “We’re going to learn a choreographed piece for each one.”

Other workshops include winter and holiday-themed classes offering crafts, dancing and games. Classes take place at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Upcoming workshops and camps include:

  • Snow Angel Party, 9-11 a.m., Jan. 1-5 (ages 4-6)
  • On Broadway Dance Workshop, 9:30-11 a.m., Dec. 27-Jan. 5 (ages 6-9), 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Dec. 27-Jan. 5 (ages 10 and older)
