Race to the finish line and reward yourself with a bowl of chili afterward.
Schaumburg Park District’s annual Chilly Chili 5K Race begins at 10 a.m., Dec. 1 at Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road.
The Chilly Chili 5K is for ages 10 and older and includes multiple age divisions. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each division and will be announced at 11 a.m.
“What makes this 5K so unique is that the route is on the golf course paths and not on public streets,” said Charissa Tischhauser, fitness supervisor. “The course is very scenic and is USA Track & Field certified. Once you’ve finished the 5K, you’re invited to warm up and eat a bowl of chili in the banquet room.”
Pre-registration is available at parkfun.com/5K . Pre-registration is $35 and is due by 5 p.m., Nov. 28. Race-day registration is $40. Spectators may purchase a meal ticket for $9. Included with the chili lunch is one free beer for participants 21 and older.
Check-in, packet pickup and race-day registration will be available 8-9:30 a.m., Dec. 1. Race results will be published the afternoon of the race on www.realtiminginc.com and at parkfun.com the morning after the race.
All participants will receive a long-sleeve race shirt.
The Chilly Chili 5K is sponsored by AMITA Health and Dick Pond Athletics.
