Celebrate old-time traditions at Christmas in the Valley

Nov 20, 2018

Enjoy the holidays from a simpler time, before online shopping and busy malls.

Schaumburg Park District’s Christmas in the Valley is set for noon to 4 p.m., Dec. 1 and 2 at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.

“Christmas in the Valley allows families to step back in time and experience an authentic 19th century German-American Christmas,” said Dave Brooks, manager of Spring Valley. “While there are some similarities between how we celebrate Christmas today and how it was celebrated in the early 1900s, many of the traditions portrayed at the event are no longer practiced today–making it a very unique experience.”

The day will include craft activities, roasting marshmallows over a fire and a visit with St. Nick. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Cost is free for all ages.

Parking is available at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.
