Leave your winter blues at home and get outside for some winter fun at Schaumburg Park District’s Spring Valley.
Spring Valley Winter Fest is set for noon-3 p.m., Jan. 19 and 20 at the Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. Activities include horse-drawn wagon rides, winter-themed crafts and games, and roasting marshmallows on a bonfire. Snowshoe walks through the prairie also will be available, weather permitting.
“The wonderful thing about nature is that its beauty can be found during every season,” said Dave Brooks, manager of conservation services at Spring Valley. “There is something about being outside in the cold air that is energizing, yet also very peaceful.”
Food and warm refreshments will be available for purchase.
“There will be plenty of activities both outdoors and indoors,” Brooks said. “Families can go outside for fresh air and then warm up in the Nature Center.”
Admission is $3 per person or $12 per family and free to children 3 and younger.
