Schaumburg Idol 2015 Judges

The Schaumburg Park District presents Schaumburg Idol, the chance to discover America's next singing superstar from the Schaumburg Park District area. Here are the judges:

Beth Waller

Judge Beth Waller has been involved with the arts since she was 3 years old. Her dance experience includes teaching and performing ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical and modern. She also loves swing and has directed a studio for 17 years.

Waller began teaching at 13 as an assistant in her home studio in Urbana, Ill. She has acted in plays since childhood. Her theatrical experience includes directing, producing, choreographing and even writing several children’s plays. She has produced/directed small productions as well as an $80,000 production of Joseph for the Paramount Arts Centre in Aurora.

Beth’s musical experience includes studies in piano, violin and voice. She has competed regionally in voice and violin and has directed several children’s choirs and swing performance choirs. Her visual arts experience includes study in water color, charcoal and ink, and basic art history.

Judge Waller has had the honor of teaching and working with many young people who have become professional artists. The list includes Brett Rowe, music director and conductor for numerous venues and current pianist for Mary Poppins and Altar Boyz; Becca Caliendo, international opera performer; Katherine Bruno, principle dancer for Salt Creek Ballet; and Sam Renzetti, a past judge on Schaumburg Idol.

Ellery Kline

Ellery performed in many musicals while growing up and enjoyed singing in school as well as church. He performed in IMEA all-state honors choir for two years in high school. Ellery received his education at Millikin University in Vocal Music Education.

He has taught for three years as an elementary general music teacher in Decatur, Illinois and most recently in Hoffman Estates and Bartlett. His musical hobbies include composing, performing, and learning new instruments. He is currently an instructor at the Schaumburg Park District.

Andrew Norte

Andrew Norte discovered his passion for music at age 9 when he began taking piano lessons.   His first musical experiences were in church where he sang, performed piano and singing solos, accompanied choir and acted in plays.  It wasn't long before he knew his true calling was music!

Andrew graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s of music in education.  At NIU, Andrew played piano in jazz combos and ensembles, sang in choir and participated in marching band playing alto sax.  He has been working for the Schaumburg Park District since 2008 in various musical capacities including teaching voice and instrumental lessons, accompanying musicals, directing vocal rehearsals and accompanying singers during Schaumburg Idol's very first season.

Andrew is also the music director at Washington School in Schiller Park and the jazz piano player for the Illinois Army National Guard.
