Sundays at the Cabin
May through July, 1- 4PM

Return to Schaumburg’s roots as rural German farm community by spending time at Spring Valley’s Merkle Cabin. Nestled among whispering pines and just a short walk from the visitor center, the Cabin is open 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays May through July. Trained volunteers are on hand to share information about the fascinating history of this unique site.

The first Sunday of each month features demonstrations of hearth cooking and other early American food preparations. Remaining Sundays are designed for family fun and feature craft projects for $1 or less. On June 1 and 8, visitors can learn the story of the Redeker peony farm and view descendents of the original peonies that grow there today.
