Conservation Areas

The Schaumburg Park District maintains nearly 300 acres of preserved natural areas throughout the district. In addition to 135-acre Spring Valley, four designated conservation areas provide homes for wildlife and give residents opportunities to experience wild nature close to home and appreciate the beauty of Illinois’ native plants and animals.

All conservation areas are accessible via trails, boardwalks, etc. and many contain interpretive signs that help explain natural features. The conservation staff at Spring Valley maintains these areas and conducts restoration and management activities as well as seasonal interpretive programs.

Specialized programs for organized groups can be arranged for any site by contacting Spring Valley’s program staff at 847/985-2100 or by email at springvalley@parkfun.com.
