The Schaumburg Park District is seeking enthusiastic 13 - 15 year olds who want to become leaders and potential staff members. Applicants must be 13 by January 1, 2015.
This fun experience is a great way to introduce the concept of employment responsibilities to teens. Junior Leaders will interact with young children, peers and adults in a work setting. Junior Leader positions are available for Safety Town, tot and sport programs, swim lessons and more!
There is a required fee of $22/$32 for the Junior Leader Program. The fee is payable when registering for the Junior Leader program please use code 63747.
New applicants must complete the Junior Leader application which can be downloaded from the link below, or picked up at the CRC, PSC, or MRC after March 2. The application and two recommendation forms must be submitted to Teresa Varco at the Pat Shephard Center, 421 N. Springinsguth Road. by March 30. Applicants must call The Pat Shephard Center (847) 490-7036 to set up an interview. Junior Leaders will receive a written letter of their application status the week of April 27. All teens accepted into the Junior Leader Program will receive information regarding the placement process. Positions are limited and will be first come first serve. There is a mandatory Junior Leader Meeting on Thursday, May 21, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center. This training will include: Junior Leader information, a guest speaker and parent information.
Returning Junior Leaders
Returning Junior Leaders must call the Pat Shephard Center (847) 490-7036 to set up an interview. During the interview, Junior Leaders will discuss experiences from last summer and the placement process for the summer. Please bring a completed Junior Leader Commitment Form for Returning Junior Leaders and Junior Leader Program Selection Form can be downloaded below. The $22/$32 registration fee for the program is a required fee for all Junior Leader participants. Returning Junior Leaders must attend the mandatory Junior Leader Meeting on Thursday, May 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center. This p.m. training will include: Junior Leader information, a guest speaker and parent information.
Parents must attend the last half hour (8:00-8:30PM) of the meeting.
