Coronavirus Response

February 26, 2022

Current Update (2/26/22):

Governor Pritzker officially announced that the state-wide mask mandate will expire on Monday, Feb. 28. Additionally, the Cook County Department of Public Health will lift the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Given these announcements, effective Monday, Feb. 28, Schaumburg Park District will no longer require masks inside District facilities and vaccine proof will no longer be required for any program or event.
Please note that our preschool program is licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and DCFS guidelines still require masks in preschool programs.

Please remain respectful of others' choices about masks. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this transition.

Aug. 23, 2021 Update: Throughout the pandemic the safety of our patrons and staff has been our top priority. With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, the Cook County Department of Public Health has mandated that beginning today Monday, August 23, all individuals over 2 years of age must wear face coverings inside public buildings. Given this news, effective immediately, Schaumburg Park District will begin requiring masks for all patrons inside our facilities - this includes during fitness and athletic activities.

July 30, 2021 Update: Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) released new guidance recommending that fully vaccinated individuals resume wearing masks indoors in areas of the country where COVID-19 transmission is "high or substantial". Yesterday, it was announced that Cook County has fallen into the substantial transmission category.

Given this development, effective July 31, Schaumburg Park District is strongly recommending masks for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, inside our facilities. Children 11 and under will continue to be required to wear masks.

We appreciate your cooperation. For more information, please email hello@parkfun.com or call 847-985-2115.

May 21, 2021, 6 a.m., Update: Schaumburg Park District policies and procedures regarding COVID-19 have been put in place in the interest of public health and to ensure that the District is following all executive orders and mandates. On May 17, Governor Pritzker released Executive Order 2021-10, which stipulates that in most places, individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not have to wear face coverings.

Considering this updated order, as well as updated guidance from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (released on May 20, 2021), effective immediately, fully vaccinated patrons will not have to wear face coverings at District facilities. Children ages 2-11 and unvaccinated adults must continue to wear a face covering (except while swimming). Please note that we will not be requiring proof of vaccination but ask for patrons’ responsible cooperation with this revised policy.  Staff working with children ages 11 and younger are required to wear a mask.

Please continue to practice social distancing whenever possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this latest transition. As mandates and guidance are updated, we will release updated information. For the latest news, please visit parkfun.com or call 847-985-2115.

May 14, 2021, 9 a.m., Update: We are aware of yesterday’s announcement that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has lifted the mask-recommendation for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  This is certainly an exciting development, however before making any adjustments to operations and policies, we are waiting for further guidance and/or mandates from the Governor’s office and the Illinois Department of Public Health. At this time, all District mask mandates are still in effect in all Schaumburg Park District locations.
