Meineke Recreation Center Renovation: Phase 1 Begins June 5!

We are excited to announce that beginning June 5, Meineke Recreation Center will undergo a multi-phase indoor and outdoor renovation project! The first phase is expected to conclude mid-September. During this time, please take note of the posted signage directing you to separate entrances. Outdoor temporary fencing and indoor temporary walls and partitions will be installed ahead of this construction. For your safety, please take note of all posted signage, avoid restricted areas and follow marked paths. If you have any questions, please call Meineke Recreation Center at 847-985-2143.

Phase 1 Timeframe:

June 5 to mid-September

Entrance Changes During Renovation:

Fitness Center & Pool: The parking lot entrance (Entrance A) will be used exclusively for admittance to the fitness center and pool.

Gymnasium & Elevator: Door 3, located on Weathersfield Way (Entrance B), will be used for visitors who need access to the elevator or are using the gymnasium for open gym, programs, group fitness, rentals, etc.

Program Changes/Relocations:

- Drop-In Pickleball: Hours will change based on gymnasium needs. Please call ahead at 847-985-2143 to confirm current hours or visit our other drop-in pickleball locations during this time.

- Registered Activities/Programs (Karate, Dance, Tae Kwon Do, etc.): Please review activities/programs you are registered with on Active to find out if your activity/program has been relocated. For assistance, please call 847-985-2115.

- Open Gym: Hours may change based on usage of the gymnasium for activities, private rentals and more. Please call ahead at 847-985-2143 to confirm current open gym hours or visit our other open gym locations during this time.

- Meineke Pool: Expected to open June 2 with in-season pool hours. Click here for all of our current pool hours.

- Fitness Center: Expected to remain open with regular hours. Click here for all of our current facility hours.

 

Parking:

Parking will remain available at Meineke; affected handicap parking will be relocated to the poolside of the lot. On weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays, overflow parking is available at the Jerry Handlon Administration Building, 235 E. Beech Drive (a short walk to Meineke Park).

New features during Phase 1:

• Exterior renovation: Mechanical upgrades, roof replacement, façade improvements.

• Interior renovation: Lobby and corridor renovation, lighting improvement, replacement of HVAC system.

 

Phase 2 is expected to begin in September. More details on Phase 2 will be shared in August. We will continue to update this page periodically as the renovation progresses. Thank you for your support and patience!
