The gymnastics center at The Sport Center is home to instructional classes and camps for boys and girls ages 2 to 16. It is also home to a competitive team program and has instructors available for private lessons.

Class Offerings

Schaumburg Park District's gymnastic program has a number of classes designed to fit your needs. More class information is available in the program guide.

  • Parent/Tot:
    *Parent participation required* Classes are designed for parents with their 2-3 yr. old child.  Parents are required to participate in every class as their child is given the opportunity to try various gymnastics equipment.    
       
  • Tot:
    Class designed for 3-4 yr. children.  Children are taught age appropriate gymnastics movements and concepts.

  • Jr. Gymnastics:
    Jr. Gym 1-Class designed for 4-5 yr. old children in Pre-K. Children are taught basic gymnastics skills and gym safety rules. Jr.Gym 2-Class designed for 5-6 yr. old children in Kindergarten and 1st grades. Children are taught basic gymnastics skills and gym safety rules.
  • Girls Beginner (7-10 yrs./11-14 yrs.):
    Class designed for girls in 2nd-8th grades. Beginners learn and master basic gymnastics skills at each of the designated events while moving around the gym in a safe appropriate manner.

  • Girls Intermediate (7-10 yrs./11-14 yrs.):
    *Instructor permission required* This class is designed for girls in 2nd-8th grades who have mastered basic skills at each event and are ready to learn more difficult skills and work on connecting sequences.

  • Boys Beginner/Intermediate (7-10 yrs./11-14 yrs.):
    Class designed for boys in 2nd-8th grades. Beginner/Intermediates learn and master basic gymnastics skills at each of the designated events while moving around the gym in a safe appropriate manner. More difficult skills with connecting sequences will be taught once basics are learned.

  • Girls/Boys Advanced (7-10 yrs./11-14 yrs.):
    *Girls/Boys Beginner-Intermediate with instructor permission required* This class continues training for those in 2nd-8th grades who do not want to join team or work on routines.                                                                                                                        
  • Tumble/Cheer (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced):
    This program incorporates balance work, jumps, and heavy concentration on tumbling. At the intermediate level, we add tumbling combinations.  At the advanced level, we work difficult tumbling skills and passes.
  • Team:
    *Instructor permission required* The team is designed to provide quality training for gymnasts with an exceptional level of intensity. The curriculum and compulsory routines in the GIJO/USAG age group program are followed.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered at a rate of $47 per hour per resident gymnast and $67 per hour per non-resident gymnast.
